What we record when you visit
To understand how people find and use Moviebox, and to fix problems, we record on our own server:
- the pages you open, how long you stay and how far you scroll;
- the website or app that sent you here (for example a search engine or social app) and any campaign tags in the link;
- your IP address, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from the IP address), and your device, browser and screen size;
- actions such as pressing play, watching a trailer, searching, saving to your watchlist, signing in and signing out;
- technical errors that happen in your browser or on our server;
- for some visits, a recording of what appeared on screen and where you moved, tapped and scrolled, so we can see where the site is confusing or broken. Anything you type into forms, including passwords and email addresses, is hidden in these recordings.
Two cookies link your page views together: mb_vid (a random visitor number, kept up to 2 years) and mb_sid (your current visit, ends after 30 minutes without activity). A session cookie keeps you signed in.
How long we keep it
Visit statistics are kept for 180 days and screen recordings for 14 days, then deleted automatically.
Who sees it
Only the site’s administrators. We don’t sell this information or send it to analytics companies. To look up a country for a new visit, the visitor’s IP address is checked with an IP lookup service (ipwho.is or country.is).
Advertising partners and the live-chat service on this site run their own code and have their own privacy policies.
Your choices
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, your visits are never recorded on screen. You can delete our cookies in your browser at any time. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, contact us.
